Australia/New Zealand Tour Update

Posted by Helper Worm on May 16th, 2008

As promised, we’re very pleased to announce the details of Bill’s forthcoming tour to Australia and New Zealand.

Hello to all of you in the Greate Southerne Landes! It has been awhiles, but I am looking forward to this OZ:NZ tour very much. I have missed the pleasing pond sludge of spirulina on a crisp Auckland morning, the crystal light of a Sydney sunrise over a latte, a stroll along the Yarra on a balmy evening, the blue skies over the bay at Wellington, a spiro at 2am wandering down Collins, a snuffling echidna transfixed by the headlights of a hire car, a flattened possum on the way to Piha Beach…a Perth hangover..

All these delights and more await, so I’ll see you soon.

May Update

Posted by Bill on May 14th, 2008

Got delayed in Indonesia due to our booking being lost to the ether..just vanished into cyberspace like a virtual muntjak.

We flew into Terminal 5 with some trepidation but amazingly all went smoothly, bar a wait for the bags of an hour. During which we were funnelled like reluctant woodlice to a Costa Coffee, where the ridged cups of milky despair are routinely doled out by unsmiling Slavic frothbots.. The building itself looks impressive, huge shiny pillars arching upwards, connected with great bolts and plates to other equally huge struts that are slightly on a slant to the uprights. This does give the dizzying impression that the whole structure is about to fall over, so the combination of that and the coughey combines to create nausea. My advice for travellers to T5, keep your eyes and mouth clamped shut and hope for the assistance of strangers.

What is this lunacy of making people pledge allegiance to the Queen? I could understand if it was allegiance to the band Queen. Every day before assembly in schools up and down the land, pupil and teacher alike stand and chant “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality”. I could get behind that.

All is busy here at Tinsel Towers. The Wormes are burrowing round the clock to prepare the Tinselworm @ Wembley dvd for your perusal. I have begun a new diet, no carbs, no fruit, just honey, cereal and a box of pralines every other day to stop you from fainting.

Last night I performed at the benefit for SOS Sumatran Orangutan Society at the Lyceum. And got to duet with Chrisse Hynde. What a great honour, and what larks!

The founder of SOS is a remarkable woman called Lucy Wisdom and you can do me a favour here if you like. She has been nominated for an Ethical Business award by the magazine Eve, and you can vote for her via a website, click on ‘Triodos Awards – Women in Ethical Business’ then click on ‘EVE voting and prize draw’. Click on Lucy’s name and leave an email address. Eh voila! Ta very much. It would be wonderful recognition for both her and SOS.

Bill to appear at the Eden Project

Posted by Helper Worm on May 12th, 2008

Bill Bailey is to appear at the Eden Project’s first ever Comedy Session on 11th July 2008. It will be an eclectic mix of music invention and surreal imagination featuring material from the recent sell out arena tour Tinselworm.

“I’m delighted to be playing the inaugural Comedy Session at the Eden Project. I hope this is the first of many. Let there be jokes among the Biomes!” – Bill Bailey

This is the first time a comic act has been on the bill at the Eden Sessions which are now in their seventh year, with their gigs now established as some of the country’s most spectacular.

“We’ve been trying to get Bill Bailey to kick off our comedy Sessions for the past five years. It’s a dream come true and will be well worth the wait when this great, family-friendly show comes to Eden.” – Jane Montague, Eden’s Head of Large Scale Events.

Tickets for Bill Bailey Live at Eden cost £25 plus booking fee and include free entrance to the project.

Tickets do not go on sale until 6pm on Wednesday May 14 2008 but we’ve been able to secure 2,000 pre-sale tickets exclusively for Bill’s fans.

To book your tickets NOW, go to:

The pre-sale will end as soon as the 2,000 tickets are sold.

General Sale

Should you miss out on the pre-sale tickets, you will have another chance on Wednesday (from 6pm) to get your tickets when they go on sale to the general public. You will then be able to call the Eden box office on 01726 811972 or visit to get your tickets.

Have I Got News For You? Yes, actually.

Posted by on May 8th, 2008

This Friday Bill will be returning to Have I Got News For You for his second stint in the coveted role of guest host. Bill is a long running, critically acclaimed, satirical comedian who should bring an air of respectability to the bewildered, babbling, bearded news quiz. Or something like that. It’s on BBC1 at 9pm, and as usual there is an extended version on BBC2 at 9pm on Saturday.

And in case you didn’t know, 2008 is in fact the Year of Reading, and Bill has appeared in an advert for a government campaign to promote more reading. I could tell you more, but you don’t want to read about it in a load of boring old words do you? Just watch the video, which has pictures and noises and stuff. You can see the advert here, and a making of which also features Bill here.

Don’t forget to check out Bill’s ‘My Favourite Place’ on The History Channel tonight.

Grand Designs

Posted by on May 3rd, 2008

Be sure to tune into Channel 4’s Grand Designs Live tomorrow night, as Bill will be popping in for a chat. Tomorrow’s show is the first of a week-long run which sees Kevin McCloud attempting to build a green home in six days, and starts at 8.05pm.

Later in the week, Bill will be exploring the myths around one of the grandest, and most mysterious designs of all, when he visits his spiritual (and some might claim actual) home, Stonehenge, in the first episode of new series My Favourite Place which goes out on The History Channel at 8pm on Thursday. Click here to read Bill’s interview on the show in the Times.
